Competition Information

The Amazon Tennis Competition

Welcome to Sydney’s lesbian tennis competition. This is a graded competition to be held on a weekly basis with a view to providing a challenging and fun sporting environment for lesbian tennis players of all levels!

Teams:

Each team will consist of 2 players of equal or similar standard.

Playing Format :

3 standard sets of doubles with short deuce & tie break at 6 all.

Grades:

Division 1: A & B grade

Division 2: C Grade

Note: there may only be 1 grade depending on numbers

Time & Venue:

Mondays 7.15pm

Start playing 7.30pm (sharp) – 9.30pm

Competition Fees:

Members - $10 per week + $5 Registration Fee per comp.

Non- members - $12 per week + $5 Registration Fee per comp.

Membership Fees:

$20 per year - you will receive a membership card. Membership fees go towards advertising in LOTL, website etc

Comp Format:

General competition for points.

Semi finals for top four teams.

Finals for top two teams.

3 standard sets of doubles with short deuce

Point Allotment:

0 points awarded on rainy days (rained out matches will not be played unless it is a semi final or final)

Maximum points are awarded to the opponents of the forfeiting team.

Awards:

Trophy for the winners & trophy for the runners up

Regulations:

5 mins warm-up time.

Play commences at 7.30pm sharp.

The winner of a coin toss (Team 1) choose if they want to serve or receive, whilst Team 2 choose the ends.

New balls to be collected at the beginning of the night from the Competition Supervisor and are to be returned together with set scores at the end of the night.

Any disputes are to be taken to the Competition Supervisor. The Competition Supervisor’s decision shall be final and binding.

Players are responsible for finding their own reserves of equal or similar ability. Ring reserves first, and then ring the competition supervisor. If you forfeit ring Cintra Courts (9744 2767) straight away so the court can be rehired. They must be given more than 24 hours notice otherwise your team is required to pay $30.

Teams must cover their fees each week regardless of their ability to attend.

Semis & finals - If one person in your team is unavailable for the semis or final then you must find a reserve from either the comp or the current reserves list. The same two people must play in the semis & final, otherwise you must forfeit.
